The Plot

A Diner out in the boonies ends up being a "safe house" for several strangers unknowingly fixing to do battle with the forces of darkness. Along their sides during this apocalyptic fight is the Arc Angel Michael. Apparently God loses faith in mankind and he sends his legion of angels to destroy man and bring on the judgements of the Apocalypse.

My Review

Well its going to be hard to do this review with out getting into the aspects of religion here. Which i hardly ever allow myself to get into religious and or political debates etc. because both subjects or so sensitive and get people so angered. So I'm going to say up front i am not looking to debate or argue with anyone with what i have to say about this movie. This review is purely based on how i viewed things in the movie according to my knowledge of what i have learned so far in life on these issues.

Firstly, i always go see a movie like this with an open mind. Maybe even learn something new. The first problem i had with the movie was the fact that these ugly, evil looking creatures were supposed to be actual Angels. I was thinking the whole time they were demons until Michael mentions that their Gods Angels. So with that i had a hard time believing that God would send Angels down to earth looking like that and possessing people and eating them. And with a purpose of killing a poor innocent baby and get the Apocalypse rolling. And you never found out in the movie what the significance of the baby is/was. There seemed to be many holes in the plot like this. And some of the characters seemed to be underdeveloped. Not to mention a lack of chemistry. Michael is constantly changing his mind. First he rebels against God. Then later he changes his mind about killing the baby and decided to try to save the baby. Now from my knowledge Michael would never rebel against God. Let alone would there ever be a fight between Arc Angels Gabriel & Michael. Also things like the tattoos all over Michael's body were never commented on. And i know I'm not the only one wondering about those tattoos. And where was Gabriel's tattoos? Why didn't he have any? What made Michael so special then? Small questions to ask, maybe. But still adds mystery to the many unanswered questions about the movie. In reality these days no matter what your beliefs are there is a sense deep down that we all know God is getting fed up with all the crap going on in the world. But i highly doubt he would deal with it in the way this movie try's to make us think he would. I also believe God would never loose his faith. That contradicts traditional beliefs in the fact that God will always remain hopeful no matter what. So not exactly sure what the writers of this movie is trying to get across here or what their beliefs are. Or are they simply trying to shake other peoples beliefs and faiths? My advice for those interested in seeing this movie goes like this...If you have strong religious beliefs and are easily offended by having your faith and beliefs tested, then this movie isn't for you. But if you are just looking for a good suspenseful action thriller then check it out. There are some great special effects in the movie that make up for the bad acting. Oh i wanted to mention that i heard this movie was based off some comic book. So not sure if that is true or not. But if it is then that explains alot! lol
